Romania’s producer inflation rose 12.69% year-on-year in June 2026, up from a downwardly revised 11.86% in May, marking the highest level since March 2023. Price growth in the manufacturing sector quickened (9.09% vs 8.89% in May), driven by stronger inflation in beverages, tobacco, textiles, wearing apparel, wood and wood products, paper and paper products, chemicals and chemical products, rubber and plastic products, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, and machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified. Costs also accelerated in mining and quarrying (8.25% vs 7.79%), in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (23.32% vs 21.33%), and in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (14.2% vs 13.74%). On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.84% in June 2026, slowing from a 1.41% rise in the previous month.
